Anyone can use the following 'live' Google map to help learn about Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) coordinates. Zoom in far enough and a 100 meter grid appears. Use Menu ==> Search to find your local area. This map with a MGRS grid will work in most browsers on most devices including cell phones.
Consider using U.S. National Grid (USNG) instead of MGRS. The only difference is that USNG coordinates are written with spaces so they are easier to read.
The map is displayed by Gmap4 which is an enhanced Google map viewer. For a description of all the features of Gmap4 that support Military Grid Reference System please download the USNG and MGRS Coordinates pdf file.
Use the Menu button to toggle the MGRS coordinates grid on/off. To see the best quality topographic maps, please zoom in and change the base map to "t4 CalTopo Hi-res" for the USA, "t5 Canada" or "t8 Topo OSM Cycle" for everywhere else. You have to zoom in before the topo maps appear.
